This power house is from an unknown (to me) date. It was fed by a
diversion (through a 12-inch diameter pipe) from a stream, into a
sluice-way , into the pond, and then
into the Platte River.
(I never can remember which fork of which Platte, but it's the one that
follows U.S. Highway 285, along the old roadbed of the Denver, South
Park, and Pacific Railroad, from Kenosha Pass to Bailey. The DSP&P
continued to Como, in South Park, and then over Boreas Pass, to
Breckenridge.)
The pond likely was created after the power house stopped being used.
In any case, the pond still drains (slowly) into the Platte.
Unfortunately, this power house is in rather urgent need of
repair. This is most apparent by noticing that there is a hole in
the
roof,
more or less over the generator. Eventually, the whole
structure will collapse, if the roof is not repaired.
